We are all in this together and we need everyone to do their part. For us to be able to generate comprehensive improvements by creating pervasive, reciprocal, selfish, selfless, synergistic, interactions so everyone and everything benefits we need everyone’s help. That means we need to recognize women for the great things they do. Women need the positive press they deserve instead of having their stories rewritten to make men the heroes.
I am ashamed, this first TED Presentation demonstrated how I have been misled by the media. As Christopher Bell explains in his TED presentation, “Bring on the Female Superheroes“, the now 6 instead of the previous 50 media companies dictate what we perceive about who should be considered and is a Superhero.
The misrepresentation of women hurts everyone. I am especially ashamed because this media distortion means great things done by women are not being recognized. I am impressed by the amazing power and success of non-violent, often women led, efforts to create selfish, selfless, synergistic pervasive, reciprocal interactions so everyone and everything benefits.
Julia Bacha explains, in her TED Talk, “How Women Wage Conflict Without Violence” more about these successful women led efforts. I encourage you to listen.
In a related post, Halla Tómasdóttir explains that it is time for women to run for office. I agree with her and hope many will follow her example. I encourage you to listen.
I plan on doing my part to make sure women are appropriately recognized for their Superhero Efforts. If we all work toward making sure more women are recognized for their superhero efforts, it will be more likely everyone and everything benefits. Thank you for doing your part!
